Spring has sprung! |
We're gearing up for a big spring/summer for Sataybar. We've got lots of new daily special skewers and rices so make sure you sign up to our Facebook page and get all the specials in your daily news feed. On top of that, Kopi Tubruk (literally translated as 'coffee collision') makes a return to help rekindle the memories of that Bali holiday. It's strong, it's sweet, it's delicious. As we've been hinting at for months now, we're really excited to finally bring you our Satay-Satay peanut sauce in a jar. It's currently available at Clay Fine Food and Health, 719 Rathdowne St, Nth Carlton, with more places to follow soon. We'll keep you posted! |

Winter Warmer |
We are well and truly in the midst of a Melbourne winter and what better way to warm yourselves than a hot satay meal fresh off the barbie? In addition, grab yourselves a hot tea from our T2 range. We have Melbourne breakfast, lemongrass and ginger, peppermint, jasmine, green, English breaky, red (rooibos) and French earl grey. Remember to 'like' our Facebook page and get all the latest specials at the start of every week. Also, if you are on Foursquare, there are great deals to be had when you check-in. One more thing: our sauce is coming to deli shelves very soon. Stay tuned.. |

New Hours, New Specials |
Just a quick reminder about our new opening hours - 10am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Apologies to those regulars that were coming after 5pm, however, with the cooler weather and end of daylight savings, we thought we'd close a little earlier. Also, we now have new daily specials which we will publish every Monday on Facebook and in the shop. Everyday we'll have a special skewer and a special rice. We've got great new flavours, so come in and try them! |

Happy 2011! |
Welcome back to Sataybar for what should be an action packed 2011. I hope you all had a great Christmas break and are ready to get stuck into some satays! 2010 saw us change our chicken into high quality and lean tenderloins, which was a direct response to the feedback from our customers. So if you haven't been in for a while, come and check it out! Our most popular specials continue to be Kangaroo and Balinese chicken. We'll continue to explore the specials and try out new things in 2011. To give you a further sneak peek into what this year should hold for us, we're on track to retail our famous peanut sauce using top quality ingredients such as Australian organic peanuts. We'll keep you posted and if you have any questions or trade enquiries, make sure you get in touch! We've got a new website nearly ready to roll out which will feature more news, blogs and even some recipes (just the ones we're willing to divulge or the ones we hear of and want to share!) If that's not enough, we're getting the ball rolling on a cookbook that will introduce Australians to the wonderful world of Indonesian cooking, courtesy of our Grandmother's traditional recipes. Watch this space! Back to the store, there'll be a small price rise on January 31st. We haven't had one sine 2009 and with the continuing rise in raw materials and goods, we've had to give in. Chicken breast tenderloins are here! |
Due to popular demand our chicken skewers will now be a healthier, tastier and easier to eat, full chicken tenderloin! After many trials and lots of valuable customer feedback, we've made the move! So come in and give it a try - there'll be a transition period where the current skewers and tenderloins will both be offered and then it will be all systems go on the new healthier cut! Also, our daily specials skewers and rice special will now be offered permanently at no extra cost! These specials are limited so get in to avoid disappointment! |

Rice Specials and Indonesia expeditions |
By popular demand from our customers, we now have a special rice option available with your meal packs. Last week we offered a very healthy and tasty brown rice and this week it's a traditional coconut rice. Beautiful. In other news, Chris just returned from a quick trip to Indonesia to experience some new flavours in rural Bali and Lombok. Had some great padang food in Mataram, Lombok, some Babi Guling in Ubud, Bali and goat satay in Tabanan, West Bali! Will keep you posted on the recipes and specials that will result from his trip. Summer Specials |
Have you tried one of our Special Skewers lately? Everyday at Sataybar we have a special skewer option in addition to the Sataybar classics. Tried Kangaroo? How about the Balinese chicken skewer? The latter is made with a delicious blend of Balinese spices inspired by our last trip to Ubud, Bali. Oky, our Manager Extraordinaire has added his own touches to it to make it this summer's most popular skewer, so get in quick! Our traditional coffee and tea is fair trade, organic and carbon neutral. That is a whole lotta goodness. On top of that, they have been specifically selected to taste great with our food! |

If November's heatwave taught us one thing, it was that we need more shade for our Custom House Lane seating. Problem solved with a second umbrella to shelter you from Melbourne's elements, be they rain, hail or extreme sunshine! With summer fast approaching, Sataybar will be open for dinner with extended hours Monday to Friday. From November 17th, your favourite skewers will be available from 10am till 7pm. Eat in or takeaway - and remember to call ahead for a super quick pick-up. For a limited time only, grab yourself a free can of coke with a large meal (available after 330pm) or a free slice of kue lapis with any coffee (not available between 12pm - 2pm). Hi everyone, With summer just around the corner it\\\'s a good time to give you all an update. You may have noticed the absence of Chris and Merv from Sataybar. They are both still wholeheartedly part of the business but are on a well deserved break! In the mean time, Manor is our full time manager and a fantastic one at that! Sataybar is back in the groove for 2006! After a great 2005 - we were reviewed by The Age on numerous occations, featured on Channel 9, debuted in 'Cheap Eats' in our first year and received a special acknowledgment by The Lord Mayor John So at the retail Innovation Awards at the Crown Palladium - it is going to be a hard year to top! However, we shall give it our best shot! Sataybar Manchester Lane is slowly but surely becoming a popular new lunchtime destination and the word is out about Friday evenings at that location. Get in before 730pm to be safe. Meanwhile the original Sataybar Flinders Lane keeps pumping! Thanks to all our regulars for their support in making it such a hit! A quick word on the menu prices on this website - they could be a little incorrect! - we are having a little trouble with the programming. Apologies. Any queries just call either store.
